Phosphorus accumulation poses less influence than soil physicochemical properties on organic phosphorus adsorption on ferrasol

Summary: In Ferrasol, organic phosphorus (OP) is a significant pool of phosphorus affecting soil P bioavailability and mobility. Adsorption of seven representative P compounds showed the highest capacity for PBTCA and BGP, while Fe-ox and Al-ox positively correlated with BGP, OrthoP and PBTCA adsorption. Soil total P had no significant relationship with P adsorption capacity, but P accumulation reduced the adsorption capacity of ATP and TPP.

Summary: Studies have shown that dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP) may leach to deeper layers at a faster rate than inorganic phosphorus (orthophosphate), particularly through aquifer gravels. Monitoring data indicates that DOP compounds leach faster than orthophosphate, and for low P-sorption soils, DOP may enter groundwater faster than orthophosphate.
