Preparation and anti-corrosion performance of superhydrophobic silane/graphene oxide composite coating on copper

Summary: The superhydrophobic silane/graphene oxide (GO) composite coating synthesized on copper surface showed excellent anti-corrosion performance and durability. The covalent reaction between silane and GO nanosheets was found to form a more protective and durable coating. The prepared coating exhibited a corrosion current density decrease of over two orders of magnitude in a 1 M NaCl solution, indicating a high protection efficiency and durability.

Fabricating low-cost, robust superhydrophobic coatings with re-entrant topology for self-cleaning, corrosion inhibition, and oil-water separation

Summary: A multifunctional, low-cost, and fluorine-free superhydrophobic coating with reentrant surface topology was successfully fabricated using fly ash and room-temperature-vulcanizing silicone. The study showed that the coatings are substrate-versatile, demonstrate superhydrophobic behavior, and exhibit excellent performance in self-cleaning, corrosion inhibition, and oil-water separation. The coatings also proved to be robust and retained their superhydrophobicity even after exposure to various environmental factors.

Graphene oxide/polyvinylpyrrolidone composite coating on 316L SS with superior antibacterial and anti-biofouling properties

Summary: In this study, a GO/PVP composite coating was successfully fabricated on 316L stainless steel using EPD, showing superior antibacterial and anti-biofouling properties. Characterization analysis revealed the partial reduction of GO and intermolecular hydrogen bonding between PVP and GO. The antibacterial activity was enhanced by the disruption of cell membranes by sharp edges of GO and increased oxidative stress, while PVP enhanced surface hydration inhibited organic molecule adhesion and growth on the GP coating.
