An Investigation into the Alkali Metals Removal from Zn-Bearing Dust Pellets in Direct Reduction

Dingzheng Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the direct reduction of carbon-containing Zn-bearing dust pellets and revealed that the reduced pellets can be used as burden for blast furnaces with high compressive strength and low contents of harmful metals. The removal mechanism of potassium and sodium as well as the role of metallic iron bridge in pellet consolidation were also elucidated.

Utilization of Hydrated Lime as Binder and Fluxing Agent for the Production of High Basicity Magnesium Fluxed Pellets

Deqing Zhu et al.

Summary: This work investigates the manufacture of high basicity magnesium-containing fluxed pellets using hydrated lime as a binder and fluxing agent. The results show that the pellets made with hydrated lime have better metallurgical performance compared to those made with other materials.

High iodine adsorption by lignin-based hierarchically porous flower-like carbon nanosheets

Zihao Ma et al.

Summary: Efficient adsorbents based on lignin-derived graphene flower-like carbon nanosheets have been developed for capturing and adsorbing radioactive iodine in air and aqueous solutions during nuclear disposal and accidents. By adjusting the activation methods, different pore size structures in the carbon nanosheets were achieved, resulting in excellent iodine adsorption capacities in various environments.

Comparative filtration and dewatering behavior of vitrinite and inertinite of bituminous coal: Experiment and simulation study

An Ping et al.

Summary: The study found that inertinite has a lower dewatering rate and higher filter cake moisture compared to vitrinite, with the particles of inertinite breaking more easily into smaller particles forming a more compact filter cake. Vitrinite is more hydrophobic than inertinite, making water drainage from the filter cake easier.

A study on the zinc removal kinetics and mechanism of zinc-bearing dust pellets in direct reduction

Deqing Zhu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that direct reduction technology can efficiently extract iron and zinc from zinc-bearing dusts, with the efficiency of zinc removal controlled by Jander three-dimensional diffusion. Analysis of the microstructure and elemental composition of the pellets showed that zinc in the dust exists in different forms, and the process of zinc removal can be divided into four stages based on the efficiency and microstructure of the reduced pellets.

Mechanism for suspension magnetization roasting of iron ore using straw-type biomass reductant

Yue Cao et al.

Summary: Straw-type biomass serves as a promising alternative reductant in suspension roasting, leading to emission reduction and green utilization. Optimal conditions were determined, resulting in high iron grade and recovery rate. The transformation of hematite to magnetite was detected, and positive results were achieved in biomass gas regulation.

Adhesion forces for water/oil droplet and bubble on coking coal surfaces with different roughness

Chunyun Zhu et al.

Summary: Surface roughness significantly affects the floatability of coal. Increasing roughness on coal surfaces enhances the adhesion between water droplets and coal, but decreases the adhesion between air bubbles/oil droplets and coal surfaces in a liquid environment. This study suggests that reducing roughness can improve the spreading of oil droplets and the adhesion of bubbles, which is beneficial for flotation separation.

An in situ ATR-FTIR study of mixed collectors BHA/DDA adsorption in ilmenite-titanaugite flotation system

Liping Luo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the enhanced flotation separation performance of ilmenite and titanaugite using a mixed collector BHA/DDA, finding successful separation at a specific molar ratio. Experimental results indicated that in the mixed collector system, BHA adsorbed on mineral surfaces through chemical adsorption, while DDA adsorbed through electrostatic adsorption, forming a stable complex on the ilmenite surface but an unstable one on the titanaugite surface.
