Prediction of cardiac events with non-contrast magnetic resonance feature tracking in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy

Daniel Overhoff et al.

Summary: In patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy and LV function greater than 35%, feature tracking derived parameters show predictive value in risk stratification for future cardiovascular events. The combination of LV-GLS and RV-GRS demonstrates high sensitivity and specificity for predicting cardiovascular mortality and appropriate ICD therapy.

Myocardial Mechanics Parameters That Predict Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction in Patients With Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: A Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Feature Tracking Analysis

Lei Huang et al.

Summary: This study identified global radial strain, global longitudinal strain, and radial strain in the long-axis as independent predictors of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO) in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). The combination of these parameters showed great discriminatory power for identifying LVOTO.

Global Circumferential Strain by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Tissue Tracking Associated With Ventricular Arrhythmias in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Patients

Cailing Pu et al.

Summary: Myocardial strain changes detected by cardiac magnetic resonance tissue tracking (CMR-TT) are associated with ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Global circumferential strain (GCS) and percentage of late gadolinium enhancement (%LGE) are independent risk indicators of VAs in HCM patients.

Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: The Utility of Myocardial Strain Based on CardiacMRTissue Tracking

Jia-qi She et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the utility of myocardial strain for detecting LVOT obstruction in HCM patients based on magnetic resonance tissue tracking. The combination of Maximum LVWT >22.9 mm and Sub Radial PS >8.1% showed promise for objectively evaluating LVOT obstruction with very high specificity and acceptable sensitivity.

Texture analysis applied in T1 maps and extracellular volume obtained using cardiac MRI in the diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and hypertensive heart disease compared with normal controls

R-Y Shi et al.

Summary: Texture analysis of T1 maps and ECV showed high accuracy in differentiating between HCM, HHD, and NC. Strain parameters were able to distinguish patients from NC, but were less effective in differentiating between HCM and HHD.

The Role of Speckle Tracking Echocardiography in the Evaluation of Common Inherited Cardiomyopathies in Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review

Dan M. Dorobantu et al.

Summary: The study systematically evaluated the role of STE in pediatric inherited cardiomyopathies, finding that longitudinal and circumferential strains were the most commonly reported STE measurements, showing higher abnormal rates in DCM and LVNC, while not necessarily abnormal in HCM. Abnormal STE parameters were reported even in cohorts with normal cardiac function.

Myocardial mechanics in dilated cardiomyopathy: prognostic value of left ventricular torsion and strain

Andreas Ochs et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic value of LV strain parameters in DCM patients using CMR feature tracking, and found that GLS, GCS, GRS, and LV torsion were significantly lower in DCM patients compared to healthy subjects, with GLS showing the highest prognostic value. Combining standard CMR and strain parameters in a scoring model can further differentiate risk subgroups in DCM patients.

Summary: The study found that SENC myocardial strain is highly sensitive and specific for differentiating between athletes and HCM, athletes and HHD, and combining strain with LGE data is useful for distinguishing between HHD and HCM, HCM and cardiac amyloidosis.
