Benefits of cardiac pacing in ICD recipients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Diego Jimenez-Sanchez et al.

Summary: In HCM patients with ICD, 46% benefitted from cardiac pacing. Nearly 80% of patients had ventricular arrhythmias, with 77% successfully treated by antitachycardia pacing.

Reduction of inappropriate implantable cardioverter-defibrillator therapies using enhanced supraventricular tachycardia discriminators: the ReduceIT study

Johann Christoph Geller et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the performance of enhanced supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) discrimination algorithms in reducing inappropriate ICD therapies. Results showed that these algorithms significantly reduced the rate of inappropriate ICD shocks without compromising patient safety in ICD/CRT-D devices.

Lead Abandonment and Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (S-ICD) Implantation in a Cohort of Patients With ICD Lead Malfunction

Vincenzo Russo et al.

Summary: The study compared outcomes of patients who underwent lead abandonment and S-ICD implantation with those who underwent extraction and subsequent reimplantation of T-ICD after lead malfunction. Results showed 3 major complications or deaths in the S-ICD group and 11 in the T-ICD group during a median follow-up of 21 months. Minor complications were 4 in the S-ICD group and 5 in the T-ICD group.

Subcutaneous versus transvenous implantable defibrillator: An updated meta-analysis

Roberto Rordorf et al.

Summary: Comparison between S-ICD and TV-ICD in terms of clinically relevant device-related complications and inappropriate shocks found that the two are overall comparable. Patients with S-ICD had lower risk of lead complications and major procedural complications compared to those with TV-ICD, but higher risk of pocket complications.

Electrophysiological Study Prognostic Value and Long-Term Outcome in Drug-Induced Type 1 Brugada Syndrome

Vincenzo Russo et al.

Summary: Drug-induced type 1 BrS patients have a very low arrhythmic risk, and the decision for ICD implantation is supported by syncope and/or EPS positivity, although these methods fail to effectively identify high-risk patients.
