A new rapid synthesis of thermoelectric Sb2Te3 ingots using selective laser melting 3D printing

Summary: A new synthesis method for Sb2Te3 using selective laser melting (SLM) printing technique was reported, showing that a mixture of Sb and Te elemental powder can effectively produce Sb2Te3-based materials with improved thermoelectric performance. The study also investigated the optimal process parameters and phase transition process for the Sb/Te powder during SLM process, by imitating with thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) to enhance the power factor to 19 mu W/(cm K-2) at 50 degrees C. This work opens a new route for the design and synthesis of thermoelectric materials and corresponding devices.
