Perovskite solar cells with atomically coherent interlayers on SnO2 electrodes

Hanul Min et al.

Summary: By introducing an interlayer between the electron-transporting and perovskite layers in perovskite solar cells, researchers have successfully enhanced charge extraction and transport from the perovskite, leading to higher power conversion efficiency and fewer interfacial defects. The coherent interlayer allowed the fabrication of devices with a certified efficiency of 25.5%, which maintained about 90% of its initial efficiency even after continuous light exposure for 500 hours. The findings provide guidelines for designing defect-minimizing interfaces in metal halide perovskites and electron-transporting layers.

Interfacial toughening with self-assembled monolayers enhances perovskite solar cell reliability

Zhenghong Dai et al.

Summary: The use of iodine-terminated self-assembled monolayer (I-SAM) in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) leads to increased adhesion toughness at the interface, improved power conversion efficiency, reduced hysteresis, and enhanced operational stability. This is attributed to a decrease in hydroxyl groups at the interface and higher interfacial toughness achieved with I-SAM treatment.

Highly Enhanced Efficiency of Planar Perovskite Solar Cells by an Electron Transport Layer Using Phytic Acid-Complexed SnO2 Colloids

Congcong Liu et al.

Summary: Introducing phytic acid (PA) compound into SnO2 aqueous colloids for electron transport layer (ETL) preparation can reduce defects and improve photovoltaic performance of planar perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The unique coordination complexes formed between PA and SnO2 nanocrystals (NCs) passivate surface defects and enhance electrical conductivity, leading to a significant increase in power conversion efficiency (PCE).

Combined Bulk and Surface Passivation in Dimensionally Engineered 2D-3D Perovskite Films via Chlorine Diffusion

Md Arafat Mahmud et al.

Summary: The introduction of 2D perovskite for modifying 3D perovskite films has been shown to enhance both surface and bulk defect passivation, leading to improved efficiency of perovskite solar cells. The study demonstrates that Cl- anion diffuses into the perovskite lattice to passivate defects, while octylammonium ligands provide effective surface passivation. The diffusion of Cl- into the perovskite lattice occurs independently of 2D perovskite crystallization and contributes to effective bulk passivation.

40.1% Record Low-Light Solar-Cell Efficiency by Holistic Trap-Passivation using Micrometer-Thick Perovskite Film

Xilai He et al.

Summary: Perovskite solar cells show high efficiency in both full sunlight and low-light conditions, with a record efficiency of 40.1% achieved under warm LED light. A holistic passivation strategy reduces trap states in both surface and bulk of the perovskite film, resulting in increased charge carrier lifetimes and decreased nonradiative recombination loss. This work paves the way for high-performance, self-powered IoT devices.

Enhanced Efficiency and Stability of All-Inorganic CsPbI2Br Perovskite Solar Cells by Organic and Ionic Mixed Passivation

Jian He et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of mixed passivation on all-inorganic perovskite (CsPbI2Br) solar cells for the first time, resulting in improved film quality and energy level alignment. The passivation enhances hole extraction, drives interface electron separation, suppresses charge recombination, and achieves a high open-circuit voltage and fill factor in the devices. Moreover, the treated devices exhibit remarkable long-term stability with minimal efficiency loss after storage in a glove box for over 1000 hours without encapsulation.
