The impact of spiro-OMeTAD photodoping on the reversible light-induced transients of perovskite solar cells

Boer Tan et al.

Summary: This study investigates the crucial role of hole transporting materials in lead halide perovskite solar cells, revealing that low doping levels lead to decreased performance due to the presence of a Schottky barrier at the interface. Continuous illumination and photodoping mechanisms lead to efficiency improvements, while also shedding light on the charge dynamics during light/dark cycling processes.

Improving the Morphology Stability of Spiro-OMeTAD Films for Enhanced Thermal Stability of Perovskite Solar Cells

Wenya Song et al.

Summary: By studying the stability issues of the hole transport material Spiro-OMeTAD in perovskite-based photovoltaic cells, it was discovered that the simultaneous presence of tert-butylpyridine (tBP) additive and gold (Au) as a capping layer may cause detrimental large-domain crystallization of Spiro-OMeTAD. Strategies were proposed to stabilize the amorphous phase of the film, leading to significantly improved thermal stability of the cells. This work suggests easy ways to achieve efficient and thermally stable Spiro-OMeTAD-containing perovskite photovoltaic cells.

New insight into the grafted transition metal ions in trilacunary Keggin polyoxometalates dopants for efficient and stable perovskite solar cells

Xiao Fan et al.

Summary: This study focuses on improving the performance of hole transport layers (HTLs) based on Spiro-OMeTAD in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). By doping transition metal ions in polyoxometalate (POM) crystals, the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of PSCs are enhanced and device stability is improved. Metal ions doped POMs are proven to be low-cost and easy-to-use chemical additives for oxidizing Spiro-OMeTAD, providing an efficient strategy for fabricating high-performance and stable PSC devices.
