Investigation of zinc storage capacity of WS2 nanosheets for rechargeable aqueous Zn-ion batteries

Bin Tang et al.

Summary: Rechargeable aqueous zinc ion batteries (ZIBs) are highly desired for their low cost and high safety, but the development of suitable cathode materials remains a main challenge. This study demonstrates for the first time that 1T-WS2 nanosheets show promising potential as cathode candidates for rechargeable ZIBs, with large inter-layer spacing and high conductivity, making them competitive materials for zinc-ion batteries.

Layered V-MOF nanorods for rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries

Yue Ru et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are drawing attention due to their controllable morphologies, adjustable aperture, and large specific surface areas. A typical V-MOF (MIL-47) product is successfully synthesized via a one-step hydrothermal method, with a one-dimensional layered nanorod-like framework. The V-MOF product, with a rhomboid structure and empty channels, is used as the cathode material for the aqueous MOF-Zn battery, showing high specific capacity, rate capability, and cycling performance.
