New Tripeptide Derivatives Asperripeptides A-C from Vietnamese Mangrove-Derived Fungus Aspergillus terreus LM.5.2

Elena V. Girich et al.

Summary: Three new tripeptide derivatives, asterripeptides A-C (1-3), were isolated from Vietnamese mangrove-derived fungus Aspergillus terreus LM.5.2. The structures of these compounds were elucidated using NMR and ESIMS techniques, with absolute configurations of all stereocenters determined by Murfey's method. These compounds contain a rare fungi cinnamic acid residue and were found to exhibit cytotoxicity against several cancer cell lines and inhibition ability against sortase A from Staphylococcus aureus.

Biosynthetic versatility of marine-derived fungi on the delivery of novel antibacterial agents against priority pathogens

Nelson G. M. Gomes et al.

Summary: Marine fungi have shown great potential in producing metabolites with antibacterial effects, with many proving to be active against multi-drug resistant strains. These metabolites could serve as new prototypes to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria that are no longer responsive to available treatments.

Taxifolin, an Inhibitor of Sortase A, Interferes With the Adhesion of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcal aureus

Li Wang et al.

Summary: Taxifolin is a potent SrtA inhibitor isolated from Chinese herbs, showing effectiveness in blocking the activity of SrtA without toxicity to mammalian cells or S. aureus. It also attenuates the virulence of SrtA in vitro and protects mice against MRSA-induced pneumonia, indicating its potential as a novel agent against S. aureus infections.
