MicroRNA-26b-5p Targets DAPK1 to Reduce Intestinal Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury via Inhibition of Intestinal Mucosal Cell Apoptosis

Bowel Zhou et al.

Summary: Emerging evidence suggests that miRNAs play a crucial role in intestinal I/R injury, with miR-26b-5p identified as a potential regulator. Overexpression of miR-26b-5p was found to protect against intestinal I/R injury, while inhibition exacerbated tissue damage. Mechanistically, miR-26b-5p targets DAPK1 to inhibit cellular apoptosis and may serve as a therapeutic target for intestinal I/R injury.

Summary: The study indicates that nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a promising cardioprotective agent for targeting cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury in clinical conditions involving opioid agonists, benzodiazepines, and platelet P2Y(12) inhibitors.

HMOX1 upregulation promotes ferroptosis in diabetic atherosclerosis

Zhijun Meng et al.

Summary: Through unbiased bioinformatics analysis, we identified the crucial roles of ferroptosis and HMOX1 gene in diabetic atherosclerotic vascular disease. Experimental evidence showed that the ferroptosis inhibitor Ferrostatin-1 effectively attenuated diabetic atherosclerosis, indicating the causative role of ferroptosis in the development of diabetic atherosclerosis.

Targeting miR-10a-5p/IL-6R axis for reducing IL-6-induced cartilage cell ferroptosis

Bin Sheng et al.

Summary: This study found aberrant expression of IL-6 and its receptor in cartilage tissues of IDD patients, with IL-6 inducing cartilage cell ferroptosis by down-regulating miR-10a-5p. Overexpression of miR-10a-5p suppressed IL-6R expression and partially blocked IL-6-induced ferroptosis. The IL-6/miR-10a-5p/IL-6R axis may be a potential therapeutic target for IDD intervention.

The construction and analysis of a ferroptosis-related gene prognostic signature for pancreatic cancer

Peicheng Jiang et al.

Summary: A prognostic signature of ferroptosis-related genes was identified for pancreatic cancer patients, showing that lower risk scores were associated with better overall survival. The signature also exhibited relevance with immune characteristics, suggesting potential for enhancing personalized immunotherapy efficacy.

EF24 induces ferroptosis in osteosarcoma cells through HMOX1

Haiyingjie Lin et al.

Summary: EF24 can induce ferroptosis in osteosarcoma cells by upregulating HMOX1 to suppress GPX4 expression, increasing MDA level, ROS level and intracellular ferric ion level. It may serve as a potential agent for the treatment of HMOX1-positive osteosarcoma patients.
