Fusion of Majorana bound states with mini-gate control in two-dimensional systems

Tong Zhou et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method to realize the fusion of MBS and demonstrate their non-Abelian statistics in mini-gate controlled planar Josephson junctions. The feasibility of preparing, manipulating, and fusing MBS in 2D systems is supported by experimental results. This research provides insights into the understanding and further study of MBS.

Evidence for spin-polarized bound states in semiconductor-superconductor-ferromagnetic-insulator islands

S. Vaitiekenas et al.

Summary: Through Coulomb blockade transport studies, we found that cotunneling features in the even-odd bias spectra of nanowires grown with superconducting Al and ferromagnetic insulator EuS on overlapping facets are associated with spin-polarized Andreev levels. Experimental results indicate that the zero-field spin splitting exceeds the induced superconducting gap and the energy of subgap states can be controlled by electrostatic gates.

Epitaxial Pb on InAs nanowires for quantum devices

Thomas Kanne et al.

Summary: Semiconductor-superconductor hybrids play a crucial role in realizing complex quantum phenomena. By utilizing InAs nanowires and epitaxially matched Pb films, a new parameter space has been opened up, allowing for the exploration of exotic quantum regimes. The development of such hybrids with superior characteristics offers new possibilities for applications in topological superconductivity and quantum computation.

Local and nonlocal quantum transport due to Andreev bound states in finite Rashba nanowires with superconducting and normal sections

Richard Hess et al.

Summary: The study reveals that Andreev bound states (ABSs) localized near the ends of a partially covered superconducting Rashba nanowire can be pinned to zero energy over a wide range of magnetic field strengths, even in the nontopological regime. The probability density of ABS is nonzero throughout the nanowire, and differential-conductance calculations show correlated zero-bias peaks (ZBP) at both ends of the nanowire. Additionally, when a second normal section hosts an additional ABS at the opposite end of the superconducting section, the combined ABSs can mimic the closing and reopening of the bulk gap in conductance, resembling Majorana bound states (MBSs) even in the nontopological regime.
