Light-Driven CO2 Reduction over Prussian Blue Analogues as Heterogeneous Catalysts

Xiangyu Meng et al.

Summary: The study utilized 10 Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) as heterogeneous catalysts for photocatalytic CO2RR, showing good photocatalytic performance for CO production. Ni-Co PBA exhibited a mass evolution rate of 140 mmol g(-1) h(-1, an apparent quantum efficiency (AQY) of about 0.7%, and a selectivity of about 96.8% for CO. The CO2RR activities of (MCo)-Co-II PBAs are better than those of M-II-Fe PBAs, but the former's selectivities for CO are lower than those of the latter.

Z-Scheme 2D/2D alpha-Fe2O3/g-C3N4 heterojunction for photocatalytic oxidation of nitric oxide

Yanxian Geng et al.

Summary: The Z-scheme 2D/2D α-Fe2O3/g-C3N4 heterojunction prepared by impregnation-hydrothermal method shows efficient photocatalytic degradation of pollutants with high stability and reusability. The unique structure with high interfacial area and widely-dispersed active sites leads to broad visible-light absorption and promotes charge transfer, resulting in significantly improved efficiency for NO removal compared to g-C3N4 alone.

Effects of co-existence of organic matter and microplastics on the rejection of PFCs by forward osmosis membrane

Sung-Ju Im et al.

Summary: The study found that Perfluorinated chemical (PFC)-based materials significantly influence the physicochemical properties of forward osmosis (FO) membranes, but the co-existence of organic matter and microplastics has a minor impact on the removal rate of PFCs. The primary rejection mechanism of FO membranes is based on molecular volume sieving effect.

Tunable charge transfer efficiency in HxMoO3@ZnIn2S4 hierarchical direct Z-scheme heterojunction toward efficient visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution

Fangshu Xing et al.

Summary: Hierarchical direct Z-scheme composites of ultrathin ZnIn2S4 nanosheets on HxMoO3 nanobelts exhibit significantly higher H-2-production activity than pristine ZnIn2S4. The high conductivity and tunable charge transfer efficiency of the HxMoO3 component contribute to the effective transport of charge carriers. The hierarchical architecture increases intimate interface for effective separation of electron-hole pairs and exposes more reactive sites.

Solar denitrification coupled with in situ water splitting

Shinbi Lee et al.

Summary: Utilizing a ternary composite photocatalyst composed of TiO2, Cu-Pd bimetals, and reduced graphene oxide (Cu-Pd/rGO/TiO2), the selective solar conversion for chemical reductant-free denitrification (nitrate to N-2) by coupling nitrate reduction and water oxidation is realized. The unique activity is attributed to the synergic action of Cu as a co-catalyst for nitrate-to-nitrite conversion, Pd for nitrite-to-dinitrogen conversion, and rGO for enhanced charge separation/transfer and H-2 production.
