Two-dimensional electron gas at the (001) surface of ferromagnetic EuTiO3

R. Di Capua et al.

Summary: Experimental and theoretical studies have shown that ferromagnetic EuTiO3 hosts a quasi-two-dimensional electron gas (q2DEG) with spin polarization at its surface, induced by oxygen vacancies. This suggests EuTiO3 as a new material platform for oxide q2DEGs characterized by broken inversion and time-reversal symmetries.
