Ray-optics study of gentle non-conformal texture morphologies for perovskite/silicon tandems

Rudi Santbergen et al.

Summary: We investigate the impact of gentle front side textures on perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells. The study shows that gentle textures can enhance light absorption efficiency and allow efficient deposition of perovskite top cells. Contrary to conventional textures, gentle textures with lower steepness exhibit higher optical efficiency and achieve anti-reflective effects through total internal reflection.

Comparative analysis of monofacial and bifacial photovoltaic modules for floating power plants

Giuseppe Marco Tina et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop usable commercial simulation software tools for photovoltaic systems, including floating applications. The study optimized thermal models for mono- and bifacial floating systems, compared ground and floating system data, and analyzed the impact of variables such as tilt angle, pitch, and module elevation. The research compared monofacial and bifacial models, considering sensitive factors like albedo, and used performance indices to evaluate the different solutions.

Efficient bifacial monolithic perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells via bandgap engineering

Michele De Bastiani et al.

Summary: This study presents bifacial monolithic perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells with high efficiency under various illumination conditions, and demonstrates the advantages of bifaciality in practical environments with relevant albedo. The performance of the bifacial tandems is superior to monofacial tandems, offering increased energy generation potential for locations with specific albedo conditions.

Perovskite/Silicon Tandem Solar Cells: Effect of Luminescent Coupling and Bifaciality

Klaus Jaeger et al.

Summary: By considering luminescent coupling, it is found that the energy output of perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells is higher in bifacial operation mode. Furthermore, the importance of developing optimal perovskite materials is highlighted under the conditions of optimal bandgap and high-quality materials.

Efficient perovskite solar cells via improved carrier management

Jason J. Yoo et al.

Summary: Metal halide perovskite solar cells have shown great potential to disrupt the silicon solar cell market with their improved performance, yet still face limitations in light-harvesting due to charge carrier recombination. Efforts to enhance charge carrier management offer a path to increase device performance and approach the theoretical efficiency limit of PSCs.
