Al homogeneous deposition induced by N-containing functional groups for enhanced cycling stability of Al-ion battery negative electrode

Handong Jiao et al.

Summary: Rechargeable Al-ion batteries have been developed with a lightweight self-supporting N-doped carbon rod array (NCRA) as a long-life negative electrode, exhibiting lower areal mass density and longer cycle life compared to Al foil. The ideal skeleton of NCRA matrix facilitates regulating Al nucleation and suppressing dendrite growth, resulting in excellent cycling stability even after 120 hours of cycling in AIBs. Additionally, full cells also show long lifespan and increased Coulombic efficiency.
