Giant anomalous Hall effect from spin-chirality scattering in a chiral magnet

Yukako Fujishiro et al.

Summary: The electrical Hall effect, known as the anomalous Hall effect (AHE), can be significantly enhanced through the interaction of conduction electrons with magnetism. In a study on a chiral magnet MnGe thin film, giant AHE of electron-scattering origin was observed, attributed to a new type of skew-scattering mechanism involving thermally excited spin-clusters with scalar spin chirality.

Van der Waals epitaxial growth of air-stable CrSe2 nanosheets with thickness-tunable magnetic order

Bo Li et al.

Summary: The research discovered that CrSe2 nanosheets can be grown on a WSe2 substrate, displaying stable environmental stability and tunable thickness. No significant changes in surface roughness or magnetic properties were observed in these heterostructures after months of exposure in air. Charge transfer from the WSe2 substrate and interlayer coupling within CrSe2 were found to play critical roles in the magnetic order of CrSe2 nanosheets.

Anomalous thickness dependence of Curie temperature in air-stable two-dimensional ferromagnetic 1T-CrTe2 grown by chemical vapor deposition

Lingjia Meng et al.

Summary: The discovery of air-stable 2D metallic 1T-CrTe2 ultrathin crystals with long-range ferromagnetic ordering through chemical vapor deposition has provided insights into the change of magnetic properties due to weakening of Coulomb screening in the two-dimensional limit. The study showed a monotonic increase of Curie temperature with decreasing thickness, and a shift of the easy axis from in-plane to out-of-plane as thickness is reduced. The robust anomalous Hall effect confirmed the ferromagnetic ordering in these materials, which is rarely observed in other layered 2D materials grown by chemical vapor deposition.

Colossal Anomalous Hall Effect in Ferromagnetic van der Waals CrTe2

Meng Huang et al.

Summary: The study reveals a colossal anomalous Hall conductivity in a 1T-CrTe2 flake, dominated by the extrinsic skew scattering process rather than the intrinsic Berry phase effect. This phenomenon defies the dilemma faced by most ferromagnets, achieving both a large anomalous Hall angle and high electric conductivity simultaneously.
