Dusty ferrofluid transport phenomena towards a non-isothermal moving surface with viscous dissipation

Rohana Abdul Hamid et al.

Summary: This study examines the particulate suspension's transport phenomena in the magnetite ferrofluid past a permeable non-isothermal moving surface. The results show that the kerosene-based ferrofluid has a better convective heat transfer rate, while the presence of dust particles in the ferrofluid increases the frictional drag force on the shrinking sheet.

Symmetrical solutions of hybrid nanofluid stagnation-point flow in a porous medium

Iskandar Waini et al.

Summary: This study investigates the flow of hybrid nanofluid in a porous medium in a non-axisymmetric stagnation point region. The results show that the friction factor increases with the hybrid nanoparticles and porous medium parameter, while the hybrid nanoparticles enhance the heat transfer rate but the porous medium parameter has the opposite effect. Additionally, the shear-to-strain-rate ratio at which zero friction occurs on the wall is also determined.

Impact of the KKL Correlation Model on the Activation of Thermal Energy for the Hybrid Nanofluid (GO plus ZnO plus Water) Flow through Permeable Vertically Rotating Surface

Doaa Rizk et al.

Summary: This study investigates the thermal energy transfer characteristics during hybrid nanofluid migration in the presence of a variable magnetic field, heat source, and radiation. Using similarity transformations and the homotopy analysis method, the governing nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into a system of coupled ordinary differential equations. The results show that the skin friction and Nusselt number increase with the strength of the magnetic field and nanomaterials' concentrations, while the fluid velocity decreases. The fluid's temperature rises with the augmenting nanomaterial concentrations, Eckert number, nonsteadiness, heat source strength, and radiation parameter, while it drops with the higher Grashof number and Prandtl number. The HAM technique shows good convergence and has potential applications in efficient thermal energy transfer systems.

New Insights into the Magnetic Properties of CoFe2O4@SiO2@Au Magnetoplasmonic Nanoparticles

Rares Bortnic et al.

Summary: We report the successful synthesis and magnetic characterization of CoFe2O4@SiO2@Au magnetoplasmonic nanoparticles. The CoFe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles were prepared using the hydrothermal method, and a SiO2 shell and plasmonic Au shell were deposited on the magnetic core to create magnetoplasmonic nanoparticles with a core-shell architecture. The surface of the CoFe2O4 nanograins showed spin-glass-type magnetism, with two types of spin-glass identified depending on the external magnetic field.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of thermal-diffusion and diffusion-thermo on heat and mass transfer in a third-grade fluid with a Darcy-Forchheimer relation on an exponentially inclined stretching sheet in a porous medium. The non-linear and coupled partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations using a similarity variable formulation. The MATLAB numerical solver bvp4c is used to solve the simplified equations. The results show the impact of material parameters on velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles. The findings are compared with existing literature and demonstrate good agreement, validating the present study.

Influence of base fluid, temperature, and concentration on the thermophysical properties of hybrid nanofluids of alumina-ferrofluid: experimental data, modeling through enhanced ANN, ANFIS, and curve fitting

Summary: The study investigated the suspension of hybrid nanoparticles in conventional fluids to improve the thermophysical properties of nanofluids, specifically focusing on the trio influence of volume concentration, base fluid, and temperature on the electrical conductivity and viscosity of hybrid alumina-ferrofluids. The results showed that an increase in volume concentration enhanced the viscosity and electrical conductivity of the hybrid alumina-ferrofluids, while a rise in temperature enhanced their electrical conductivity but detracted the viscosity. Additionally, DW-based hybrid alumina-ferrofluid exhibited lower viscosity and higher electrical conductivity compared to the EG-DW-based counterpart.

Heat transfer enhancement of thermoelectric cooling module with nanofluid and ferrofluid as base fluids

S. Wiriyasart et al.

Summary: Experimental investigation on a compact heat sink thermoelectric cooling module using water, nanofluids, and ferrofluids as coolants showed that Fe3O4 ferrofluid exhibited higher heat transfer rates compared to TiO2 nanofluids and water. Nanofluids and ferrofluids with a 0.015% concentration enhanced the Peltier effect by reducing the temperature difference of the TEC cooling module, resulting in lower thermal resistance of the heat sink. Moreover, the use of nanofluids and ferrofluids as coolants significantly increased the pressure drop compared to water.
