A critical review on soil washing during soil remediation for heavy metals and organic pollutants

J. Liu et al.

Summary: Soil washing is widely recognized as a common method for soil remediation. Different washing agents and conditions have varying effects on soil washing efficiency. Future focus should be on developing environmentally friendly agents and optimizing washing conditions to reduce costs and prevent environmental damage.

Seasonal and Spatial Variation in Dissolved Heavy Metals in Liaodong Bay, China

Weijun Guo et al.

Summary: The study found significant spatial-seasonal variations in dissolved heavy metals in surface seawater of Liaodong Bay in 2020, with higher total pollution levels in autumn and summer compared to spring and winter. These findings provide baseline data for future policies aimed at protecting marine environments in Liaodong Bay.

Heavy metal pollution and the role of inorganic nanomaterials in environmental remediation

Michael B. Mensah et al.

Summary: Contamination of water and soil with toxic heavy metals poses a significant threat to human health. This paper reviews the use of inorganic nanoparticles as nanoadsorbents for efficient removal of heavy metals from water, highlighting the importance of parameters such as synthesis method, selectivity, stability, regeneration, and reusability. Surface functionalized nanoadsorbents were found to be highly selective and effective in removing heavy metals from water, even at low dosages, making them superior to conventional adsorbents in environmental remediation.

Occurrence, risk assessment, and source of heavy metals in Liaohe River Protected Area from the watershed of Bohai Sea, China

Haixia Li et al.

Summary: The study investigated the occurrence, ecological risk, and sources of heavy metals in the Liaohe River Protected Area from the Bohai Sea watershed. Results showed water, sediment, and soil in the area were contaminated with heavy metals, with Cd, Pb, As, Cr, and Zn being the most prominent pollutants. Sites L25 and L12 were classified as moderately polluted based on the potential ecological risk index values for sediment and soil, respectively.
