The role of TCP structures in glass formation of Ni50Ag50 alloys

Lin Hu et al.

Summary: A molecular dynamics simulation was conducted to investigate the rapid cooling process of Ni50Ag50 alloys. The results showed that the alloy underwent liquid-liquid and liquid-solid transitions, eventually forming an amorphous solid. The presence of TCP structures contributed to the glass forming ability of the alloy.

Inconsistency of neighborhood based on Voronoi tessellation and Euclidean distance

Siyuan Wang et al.

Summary: The paper discusses the inconsistency between Voronoi neighbors and Euclidean neighbors in 2D and 3D cases in Voronoi tessellation. It is found that as the disorder degree of a system increases, the probability of the Voronoi Neighbor Anomaly (VNA) also increases.

Correlation between the topologically close-packed structure and the deformation behavior of metallic Cu64.5Zr35.5

Li-Li Zhou et al.

Summary: The study explores the topologically close-packed (TCP) structural characteristics in a model metallic glass (MG) of Cu64.5Zr35.5 through molecular dynamics simulations. It reveals the hidden correlation between local structures and deformation behavior, especially emphasizing the influence of TCP-like atoms' deformation response not only by its nearest neighbor characteristics but also by its linkage with other atoms. The findings provide new insights into the relationship between microstructure and deformation response of MGs, contributing to the development of deformation theory of MGs.

Pressure effect on structure and properties of rapidly cooled Mg70Zn30 alloy

Lili Zhou et al.

Summary: The study shows that pressure has a significant impact on the solidification process and final structure of liquid Mg70Zn30 alloy, with T-g-P increasing monotonically with pressure. The structure parameters based on nearest neighbors are highly consistent with T-g-P, indicating the importance of nearest neighbors in glass transition.
