Unveiling the crystallographic origin of mechanochemically induced monoclinic to triclinic phase transformation in WO3

Suresh Bandi et al.

Summary: This study found that the monoclinic γ-WO3 phase transforms into the low-temperature triclinic δ-WO3 phase during high energy ball milling, leading to an anomalously stabilized structure. The transformation is attributed to HEBM-induced pressure/compression causing atomic displacement and octahedral tilting-driven polymorphic transition.
