Summary: This study identified and quantified artemisinin (ART) and other secondary metabolites in ethanolic extracts of Artemisia annua, showing that ART and anthocyanins are more concentrated in samples extracted with 90% ethanol. The extracts of A. annua exhibited a protective effect against the pro-inflammatory stimulus of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), with a reduction in TNF-alpha mRNA gene expression observed.
