Comparison of Virulence Patterns Between Streptococcus uberis Causing Transient and Persistent Intramammary Infection

Capacity of adherence, invasion and intracellular survival of Streptococcus uberis biofilm-forming strains

Summary: The study examined nine strains of Streptococcus uberis with different biofilm-forming profiles in relation to their adherence and invasion capacity. All strains were able to adhere and invade cells at varying levels, with no significant correlation between biofilm-forming ability and adhesion capacity. Presence of virulence genes did not show a correlation with adhesion or internalization percentage. The findings provide new insights on biofilm and invasion capacity of S. uberis strains, potentially aiding in the design of control strategies.
