Association Between Physicians' Workload and Prescribing Quality in One Tertiary Hospital in China

Xiaodong Guan et al.

Summary: Physician workload is associated with prescription quality, with heavier workload leading to increased risk of inappropriate prescribing. Afternoon shifts, chief physicians, surgeons, males, and experienced physicians had higher rates of inappropriate prescribing with increasing workload.

Mental workload of frontline nurses aiding in the COVID-19 pandemic: A latent profile analysis

Yawei Shan et al.

Summary: This study found that nurses aiding in the most affected area during the COVID-19 pandemic in China had high self-evaluations of their performance under extremely intensive task loads. Three latent subtypes of nurses were identified: 'low workload & low self-evaluation', 'medium workload & medium self-evaluation', and 'high workload & high self-evaluation'. Junior nurses in the 'low workload & low self-evaluation' subtype require more attention to their work pressure and psychological well-being.

Identifying the Subtypes and Characteristics of Mental Workload Among Chinese Physicians in Outpatient Practice: A Latent Profile Analysis

Dehe Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mental workload of physicians in outpatient practice in China post-normalization of COVID-19 prevention and control. Different subtypes of physicians were identified, with some showing high workload but also high self-assessment. Female, younger, lower-educated, and busier physicians were more likely to belong to the high workload and high self-assessment subtype.
