Theexport-ledgrowth in Malaysia: Does economic policy uncertainty and geopolitical risks matter?

Festus Fatai Adedoyin et al.

Summary: This study re-examines the export-led growth hypothesis (ELGH) with a focus on the impact of economic policy uncertainty and geopolitical risks on Malaysia's economic growth. The empirical results suggest that economic policy uncertainty has a negative impact on growth, while the impact of geopolitical risks is uncertain but may have a positive effect in the long run. The study recommends that the Malaysian government ensure macroeconomic and political stability to achieve export-driven growth.

Brexit and trade policy: an analysis of the governance of UK trade policy and what it means for health and social justice

May C. I. van Schalkwyk et al.

Summary: The study reveals that while some measures have been taken by the UK in trade policy governance, there are significant weaknesses in areas such as information provision, public consultation, accountability to Parliament, and strengthening of civil service capacity. Establishing a new trade policy agenda requires strong governance systems, yet despite decades of evidence on the impacts of trade on health and equity, the UK government has failed to prioritize public health and equity considerations and strengthen democratic involvement in trade policy.
