Semi-field assessment of the Gravid Aedes Trap (GAT) with the aim of controlling Aedes (Stegomyia) aegypti populations

Alvaro E. Eiras et al.

Summary: The study found that the Gravid Aedes Trap (GAT) is effective in capturing adult female Ae. aegypti in simulated outdoor environments, with similar results to the BG-Sentinel (BGS) trap. It suggests that GAT could be a promising candidate for mass-trapping intervention in urban settings, but source reduction intervention should be conducted prior to deployment.

Designing Aedes (Diptera: Culicidae) Mosquito Traps: The Evolution of the Male Aedes Sound Trap by Iterative Evaluation

Kyran M. Staunton et al.

Summary: This study presents a product profile and key trial results of a male Aedes sound trap, finding that factors such as the presence of a black base and entrance size significantly influence male capture rates, while sound lure volume and frequency do not have a significant impact on catch rates.

Dengue virus in humans and mosquitoes and their molecular characteristics in northeastern Thailand 2016-2018

Patcharaporn Nonyong et al.

Summary: Dengue is hyperendemic in Southeast Asian countries, with all four DENV serotypes circulating in Thailand. The study in the northeastern region from 2016-2018 found DENV-4 and DENV-3 were predominant. Matching of DENV serotypes in humans and mosquitoes outside the residence was low, suggesting mosquitoes may play a key role in local dengue transmission.
