X-ray signature of antistars in the Galaxy

A. E. Bondar et al.

Summary: The existence of macroscopic objects made of antimatter (antistars) is discussed in some theories of baryogenesis. Search for antistars is often done by looking for gamma-rays resulting from the annihilation of matter. In certain astrophysical scenarios, the interaction between antistars and ionized interstellar gas can lead to the formation of specific atom states, which then produce a series of narrow spectral lines associated with the annihilation process. These lines can be searched for in upcoming X-ray missions and surveys.

Theoretical Constraints on Neutron-Mirror-Neutron Oscillation

Kaladi S. Babu et al.

Summary: The paper investigates the consistency of observable n - n' oscillations signal with asymmetric inflation and derives various theoretical constraints. The results show that the reheat temperature after inflation should be below 2.5 TeV, and a singlet fermion with a mass below 100 GeV is predicted.

Neutron Stars with Baryon Number Violation, Probing Dark Sectors

Jeffrey M. Berryman et al.

Summary: The article discusses the impact of the neutron lifetime anomaly on the introduction of new physics and hidden-sector particles, as well as the powerful constraints that neutron stars can provide. It emphasizes the importance of understanding the ways baryon number violation and dark sectors intertwine and how neutron star observables can help constrain them.

Improved Search for Neutron to Mirror-Neutron Oscillations in the Presence of Mirror Magnetic Fields with a Dedicated Apparatus at the PSI UCN Source

Nicholas J. Ayres et al.

Summary: The Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) is conducting a new study on neutron to mirror-neutron oscillations using stored ultracold neutrons. The experiment features a large storage vessel to enhance statistical sensitivity. With the demonstrated performance, the study aims to detect or exclude potential signals consistent with neutron to mirror-neutron oscillations.

Asymmetric reheating from a symmetric inflationary potential

James M. Cline et al.

Summary: We studied a two-field inflation model with a power-law potential, where two identical matter sectors decoupled from each other can reheat to different temperatures while maintaining the symmetry of the Lagrangian. This scenario is motivated by mirror dark matter models, where the temperature of the mirror sector is constrained by big bang nucleosynthesis and the cosmic microwave background. For powers p < 2, we found that the symmetric field trajectory is a repeller solution, amplifying any initially occurring asymmetry by many orders of magnitude during inflation. Isocurvature fluctuations are strongly suppressed in this model, but a small tensor-to-scalar ratio could be observed in the near future. The range of potential parameters compatible with Planck constraints is larger than in corresponding single-field models, due to the curved field trajectory at horizon crossing leading to a lower spectral index.

A possible shortcut for neutron-antineutron oscillation through mirror world

Zurab Berezhiani

Summary: A new mechanism for n-n transition is proposed, mediated by mixings between neutron and hypothetical states of mirror neutron and mirror antineutron. The transition probabilities depend on environmental conditions and can be resonantly amplified by applying a magnetic field. These mixings may be induced by new physics at the scale of few TeV, potentially leading to co-baryogenesis between different sectors.

Neutron-mirror neutron mixing and neutron stars

Zurab Berezhiani et al.

Summary: The study examines the oscillation of neutrons into mirror neutrons and its impact on the structure of mixed stars, with transitions suppressed in quark stars. It also evaluates transition rates in neutron stars and discusses implications for the gravitational waves and associated electromagnetic signals from neutron star mergers. Findings suggest potential differences in radii among mixed stars of the same mass due to age differences.

A search for neutron to mirror-neutron oscillations using the nEDM apparatus at PSI

C. Abel et al.

Summary: Researchers proposed the existence of mirror copies of standard model particles, and experiments have provided evidence to support this hypothesis. By studying neutron to mirror-neutron oscillations, they have imposed constraints on theoretical parameters and detected anomalous signals, potentially indicating the existence of oscillations between neutrons and mirror-neutrons.

Dark photon portal into mirror world

Abdaljalel Alizzi et al.

Summary: Dark photons and mirror matter, considered as well-motivated dark matter candidates, may have originated during the compactification and symmetry breaking scenario of the heterotic E-8 x E-8 string theory. However, the expected magnitude of induced interactions between ordinary matter and mirror matter is too small to be of phenomenological interest.

Constraining mirror dark matter inside neutron stars

Production and evaporation of micro black holes as a link between mirror universes

Viktor K. Dubrovich et al.

Summary: The equalization of temperatures between our universe and mirror sectors is reached during one Hubble time due to microscopic black hole production and evaporation in particle collisions if the temperature of the Universe is near the multidimensional Planck mass. This effect excludes multidimensional Planck masses smaller than the reheating temperature of the Universe in mirror matter models, impacting options in particle physics and cosmology. Multidimensional models with flat additional dimensions are constrained in maximum temperature due to the effect of KK-mode overproduction, with new constraints playing a role in models with hyperbolic additional space.
