Could Adjuvant Chemotherapy Improve Prognosis for Cervical Cancer Patients with Elevated Pretreatment Serum Squamous-Cell Carcinoma Antigen?

Zhen Yuan et al.

Summary: Adjuvant chemotherapy did not improve prognosis for cervical cancer patients with elevated pretreatment SCC-Ag levels. A considerable proportion of these patients had indications for adjuvant radiotherapy postoperatively. The choice of radical hysterectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy should be prudent for these patients.

Predictive value of preoperative serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen level for lymph node metastasis in early-stage cervical squamous cell carcinoma

Chenggong Zhu et al.

Summary: The study showed that high preoperative serum SCC-Ag levels are closely related to the clinicopathological features and lymph node metastasis in cervical squamous cell carcinoma patients. SCC-Ag levels greater than or equal to 2.75 ng/mL serve as an independent factor for predicting lymph node metastasis before surgery in early stage cervical cancer.

A study on the clinical value of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography combined with serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen in diagnosing recurrence/metastases in patients with early metaphase cervical cancer

Summary: The study evaluated the clinical value of PET/CT combined with serum SCC-Ag in detecting postoperative recurrence/metastases in early stage CC patients. Results showed high diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of the combined method, indicating its clinical utility for early detection of recurrence/metastatic lesions.

The Non-Cancer Specific Elevation of the Serum Squamous Cell Carcinoma Antigen during the Post-Radiotherapy Follow-Up of Cervical Cancer Patients

Tae Oike et al.

Summary: Elevation of serum SCC antigen unrelated to disease progression can occur in cervical cancer patients treated with radiotherapy. Data suggests that renal dysfunction is significantly associated with a higher incidence of SCC elevation in these patients. These findings can be useful for monitoring cervical cancer patients post radiotherapy.

Evaluation of squamous cell carcinoma antigen 1 expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma (tumor cells and peritumoral T-lymphocytes) and verrucous carcinoma and comparison with normal oral mucosa

Samira Derakhshan et al.

Summary: The study found that the SCCA levels in SCC specimens were significantly lower than in verrucous carcinoma and normal and hyperplastic oral mucosa specimens. There was no correlation between the IHC expression of SCCA and serum levels. SCCA was well expressed in both tumor cells and peripheral T-lymphocytes.
