Imaging features of medulloblastoma: Conventional imaging, diffusion-weighted imaging, perfusion-weighted imaging, and spectroscopy: From general features to subtypes and characteristics

V Dangouloff-Ros et al.

Summary: The study reviews the classical and atypical imaging features of medulloblastomas, emphasizing on advanced MRI techniques, histopathological and molecular subtypes, as well as follow-up modalities. Atypical imaging features have been widely reported, varying according to the age of the patient and histopathological subtype.

Pediatric Brain Tumors: Descriptive Epidemiology, Risk Factors, and Future Directions

Maral Adel Fahmideh et al.

Summary: Brain tumors are the most common solid tumors in children, with factors such as tumor histology and demographics influencing their incidence and prognosis. Known risk factors for pediatric brain tumors include exposure to ionizing radiation and certain genetic syndromes, but there is also evidence of associations with factors like birth defects and maternal dietary compounds. Identifying genetic variants associated with susceptibility to brain tumors may help in developing risk prediction models for prevention.

Radiation Induced Cavernomas in the Treatment of Pediatric Medulloblastoma: Comparative Study Between Proton and Photon Radiation Therapy

S. Joy Trybula et al.

Summary: This retrospective analysis of 79 patients who underwent resection of medulloblastoma and subsequent XRT showed that while photon and proton beam therapies had similar rates of post-radiation cavernoma development, cavernomas were detected significantly earlier in patients who received proton beam therapy. There was no significant difference in the development of significant cavernomas requiring surgical resection between the two radiation therapy modalities.

Radiomic Phenotypes Distinguish Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumors from Medulloblastoma

M. Zhang et al.

Summary: This study found that radiomic phenotypes derived from MR imaging can effectively distinguish atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors from medulloblastomas. By measuring image intensity, texture, and morphology features, different tumor types can be accurately predicted with high performance.

Magnetic resonance radiomics features and prognosticators in different molecular subtypes of pediatric Medulloblastoma

Feng-Chi Chang et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the radiomics features of 38 medulloblastoma patients and found significant differences in imaging features among the four molecular subgroups. Eight gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) texture features were found to be significantly different between the molecular subgroups. Additionally, a specific gray-level run length matrix feature was associated with shorter survival times in patients with higher values.
