Exogenous Melatonin Improves the Growth of Rice Seedlings by Regulating Redox Balance and Ion Homeostasis Under Salt Stress

Long Wei et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that foliar spraying melatonin could significantly promote the growth of salt-stressed rice by enhancing antioxidant enzyme activities and reducing cell injury in plant leaves. It also improved ion homeostasis, particularly in leaves, thereby enhancing salt resistance of rice under high salinity.

Exogenous Application of Melatonin Induces Tolerance to Salt Stress by Improving the Photosynthetic Efficiency and Antioxidant Defense System of Maize Seedling

Shakeel Ahmad et al.

Summary: The study found that an optimal concentration of exogenous melatonin significantly increased the growth, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic efficiency, and antioxidant enzyme activities of maize plants, while reducing oxidative stress under salt stress conditions. Melatonin plays a crucial role in regulating growth and antioxidant defense in maize seedlings under salt stress.

Effect of Biochar on CO2 Sequestration and Productivity of Pearl Millet Plants Grown in Saline Sodic Soils

Esmat F. Ali et al.

Summary: The use of biochar is crucial in enhancing soil carbon sequestration and improving nutrient availability in saline sodic soils. Biochar application significantly increased forage yield and reduced salinity effects in pearl millet leaves. Additionally, biochar positively influenced CO2 emissions, with organic carbon sequestration ranging from 6.00 to 9.45 ton C ha(-1) per season.
