Tools to assess the quality of life in patients with Parkinson's disease: a systematic review

Anna Berardi et al.

Summary: This study found that the most frequently used scales for assessing quality of life in patients with PD are the 39-item and 8-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) (PDQ-8). These findings suggest that further exploration of existing PD outcome measures would benefit patients, researchers, and clinicians. Validated, universal outcome measures are needed to allow for comparisons across practice, highlighting the importance of using a common set of outcome assessments based on the results of this review for future researchers.
