Probiotic Potential of a Folate-Producing Strain Latilactobacillus sakei LZ217 and Its Modulation Effects on Human Gut Microbiota

Manman Liu et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the folate production potential of strains isolated from raw milk and found that Latilactobacillus sakei LZ217 had the highest folate production. In vitro studies on human gut microbiota showed that LZ217 significantly increased the abundance of beneficial bacteria and promoted the production of butyric acid. These findings suggest that LZ217 could be a candidate probiotic for fortifying folate and regulating intestinal microecology.

Purification, characterization, and mode of action of Paracin 54, a novel bacteriocin against Staphylococci

Yuanyuan Zhu et al.

Summary: This study focused on the purification, characterization, and mode of action of the bacteriocin Paracin 54 produced by Lactobacillus paracasei ZFM54. Paracin 54 exhibited broad-spectrum inhibitory activity, with a strong inhibitory effect on Staphylococci and stability in acidic pH range. The mode of action results showed that Paracin 54 damages the cell membrane and cell wall of Staphylococcus aureus, leading to bacterial death.

Lactobacillus plantarum ZJ316 Attenuates Helicobacter pylori-Induced Gastritis in C57BL/6 Mice

Qingqing Zhou et al.

Summary: The study found that Lactobacillus plantarum ZJ316 had significant anti-H. pylori ability, decreased IFN-gamma and IL-6 levels, increased IL-10 levels, repaired mucosal damage, and reduced the abundance of H. pylori. Different microbial families were more prevalent in the prevention and treatment groups, indicating that L. plantarum ZJ316 could be a potential candidate for the prevention and treatment of H. pylori-induced gastritis by modulating the gastric microbiota and reducing mucosal inflammation.
