Research conducted in the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea found that herbicide residues were detected at a rate of 100% within 100 km from shore, with triazine herbicides reaching concentrations that can disrupt phytoplankton and bacterioplankton communities. The exposure to these herbicides also significantly altered the structure and metabolism of both phytoplankton and bacterioplankton communities.
