Resveratrol and its nanocrystals: A promising approach for cancer therapy?

Daniela Ancic et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential use of resveratrol and its nanocrystals as antitumor agents in mice and explored the interaction between nanocrystals and biological tissues. The results showed that both resveratrol and its nanocrystals significantly reduced tumor cell proliferation and the number of blood vessels in the abdominal cavity, with low toxicity. However, resveratrol led to more severe liver cell necrosis and kidney damage compared to nanocrystals.

Progress in the development of stabilization strategies for nanocrystal preparations

Jingru Li et al.

Summary: In recent years, nanocrystal technology has been extensively researched due to its ability to overcome the problems of low drug solubility and poor bioavailability. The stability of nanocrystals is a key challenge for their further development, with the addition of stabilizers being necessary to enhance their stability. The stability of nanocrystal suspensions and the redispersibility of solid nanocrystal drugs are crucial factors for large-scale production of nanocrystal preparations.

Third-generation solid dispersion combining Soluplus and poloxamer 407 enhances the oral bioavailability of resveratrol

Teofilo Vasconcelos et al.

Summary: Resveratrol, a promising anti-oxidant drug candidate, was formulated into third-generation solid dispersions using Soluplus and Tween 80 as carriers, significantly enhancing its solubility. In vivo studies showed that formulations containing 15% poloxamer 407 demonstrated the most promising results, with a 2.5 fold increase in bioavailability compared to formulations without poloxamer 407.
