Potential hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, and anti-inflammatory bioactive components in Nelumbo nucifera leaves explored by bioaffinity ultrafiltration with multiple targets

Hui Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that extracts of Nelumbo nucifera leaves significantly promoted glucose consumption in HepG2 cells and exhibited inhibitory activities against alpha-glucosidase, pancreatic lipase, and COX-2. Four potential active compounds were identified targeting these enzymes through bioaffinity ultrafiltration coupled with HPLC-MS/MS, with enzyme inhibitory activities verified by enzyme inhibition assay and molecular docking. This study provides valuable information for discovering functional active ingredients from complex medicinal plant extracts.
