Ultrasound-assisted adsorption/desorption of jujube peel flavonoids using macroporous resins

Dongbei Shen et al.

Summary: The study found that ultrasound-assisted adsorption/desorption technique could efficiently purify jujube peel flavonoids, with ultrasound power and temperature affecting the adsorption/desorption characteristics of JPFs on MRs. Ultrasound technology can increase the surface roughness of macroporous resins, strengthen the formation of hydrogen bonds, and significantly enhance the content of principal flavonoids in JPFs, leading to improved biological activities.

UPLC-Triple-TOF/MS characterization of phenolic constituents and the influence of natural deep eutectic solvents on extraction of Carya cathayensis Sarg. peels: Composition, extraction mechanism and in vitro biological activities

Xizhe Fu et al.

Summary: NADES, as a green alternative to traditional organic solvents, has been increasingly studied for the extraction of bioactive compounds. In this study, phytochemicals in Carya cathayensis Sarg. peels were extracted using Choline chloride-Malic acid, with 29 compounds identified. The extract exhibited high phenolic content, antioxidant capacity, and inhibition activities against alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase. The extraction efficiency of ChCl-MA was attributed to larger solvent accessible surface area, more hydrogen bonds, longer lifetime of hydrogen bonds, and lower intermolecular interaction energy.

Synthesis of chitosan composite of metal-organic framework for the adsorption of dyes; kinetic and thermodynamic approach

Tooba Saeed et al.

Summary: The iron metal-organic framework composite CS/MOF-235 was synthesized and its adsorption performance for methylene blue and methyl orange was investigated. The results showed that CS/MOF-235 had much higher adsorption capacity than MOF-235 and chitosan. The adsorption mechanisms may involve hydrogen bonding, pi-pi bonding, pore-filling, electrostatic interactions, and chemisorption.

One-pot method based on deep eutectic solvent for extraction and conversion of polydatin to resveratrol from Polygonum cuspidatum

Bo Sun et al.

Summary: A novel one-pot method based on deep eutectic solvent (DES) was developed to efficiently extract and convert polydatin to resveratrol from Polygonum cuspidatum. The extraction yield of resveratrol using DES was significantly higher than traditional solvents. The DES disrupted plant cell walls to enhance resveratrol yield.

Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents for the Extraction of Bioactive Steroidal Saponins from Dioscoreae Nipponicae Rhizoma

Gui-Ya Yang et al.

Summary: A simple and environmentally friendly extraction method using natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) was established to extract four bioactive steroidal saponins from Dioscoreae Nipponicae Rhizoma (DNR). The optimized extraction parameters were determined, and the steroidal saponins were successfully recovered using D101 macroporous resin. This study highlights the potential of NADESs as green media for efficiently extracting bioactive compounds from natural products.
