Nitrate supplementation at two forage levels in dairy cows feeding: milk production and composition, fatty acid profiles, blood metabolites, ruminal fermentation, and hydrogen sink

Majid Sharifi et al.

Summary: Nitrate supplementation did not significantly affect milk yield and ECM/DMI, but increased milk urea nitrogen. The lowest quantity of milk vitamins (A and E) was observed in nitrate groups. Nitrate supplementation increased c9-C18:1, unsaturated fatty acids, and n-6/n-3 contents of the milk.

Digestibility and metabolism of copper in diets for pigs and influence of dietary copper on growth performance, intestinal health, and overall immune status: a review

Charmaine D. Espinosa et al.

Summary: Copper plays an important role in the growth and health of pigs, with supplementation at appropriate levels promoting growth and reducing intestinal diseases. Further research is needed to explore potential interactions between copper and non-nutritive feed additives, as well as to determine the optimal quantity of copper and duration for supplemental feeding in pig diets.

Copper Tannic Acid-Coordinated Metal-Organic Nanosheets for Synergistic Antimicrobial and Antifouling Coatings

Jia Li et al.

Summary: In this study, copper tannic acid (CuTA) nanosheets with excellent antibacterial activity were successfully prepared and showed fine antibacterial and antifouling performance after being hybridized with acrylic resin. The CuTA nanosheets exhibited significant killing rates against Gram-positive Bacillus subtilis and Gram-negative Escherichia coli, disrupting their cell walls and inhibiting their proliferation and growth. The hybrid coating of CuTA nanosheets and acrylic resin displayed promising antimicrobial effectiveness and antialgae properties under a low CuTA load, suggesting potential applications in marine antifouling coatings.

Methane Emissions from Ruminants in Australia: Mitigation Potential and Applicability of Mitigation Strategies

John L. Black et al.

Summary: Methane is a potent greenhouse gas with significant contributions from ruminant animals like cattle and sheep. Reduction in enteric methane emissions from these animals is crucial for ecosystem preservation. Various strategies, including feed supplements and manipulation of rumen microbial population, have shown potential for reducing methane emissions.

In situ ruminal degradation of sallow tree leaves using different mathematical models

Valiollah Palangi

Summary: The study investigated the ruminal disappearance of sallow leaves using mathematical models and found that Model I was the most suitable for estimating the degradability of sallow leaves. Sallow leaves can be used as a part of ruminal feed, with effective degradability being a key feature.

Seasonal variation in yield, nutritive value, and antioxidant capacity of leaves of alfalfa plants grown in arid climate of Saudi Arabia

Walid Soufan et al.

Summary: The study found that autumn is the best season for harvesting alfalfa leaves for human nutritional purposes, as they have high protein and fat content but lower digestibility. Autumn-harvested leaves also showed higher antioxidant capacity when extracted with ethanol compared to distilled water.
