Interactive Impacts of Soil Salinity and Jasmonic Acid and Humic Acid on Growth Parameters, Forage Yield and Photosynthesis Parameters of Sorghum Plants

Adam Yousif Adam Ali et al.

Summary: The study showed that foliar application of jasmonic acid and soil amendment with humic acid can mitigate the negative effects of salinity stress on forage sorghum yield and growth parameters, enhancing cultivation performance under saline conditions. The application of humic acid and jasmonic acid helps improve salt tolerance and plant growth quality.

Biochemical responses of water-stressed triticale (X Triticosecalewittmack) to humic acid and jasmonic acid

Ehsan Bijanzadeh et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that concomitant foliar application of humic acid (HA) and jasmonic acid (JA) could enhance pigment content, antioxidant enzyme activity, and relative water content, thereby alleviating the inhibitory effects of water stress in the ET-84-8 genotype.

Foliar fertigation of ascorbic acid and zinc improves growth, antioxidant enzyme activity and harvest index in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) grown under salt stress

Sibgha Noreen et al.

Summary: External fertigation with vitamins and minerals can offset the deleterious effects of salt stress on crop productivity. This study found that foliar fertigation of ascorbic acid and zinc enhanced the physiological and biochemical attributes of barley under saline conditions, improving salt stress tolerance and yield attributes.

Forage and grain yields of dual-purpose triticale as influenced by the integrated use of Azotobacter chroococcum and mineral nitrogen fertilizer

Heba Sabry Attia Salama et al.

Summary: The study conducted in Northern Egypt during the winter seasons of 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 evaluated the performance of dual-purpose and grain-only triticale under variable mineral N rates. Results showed that applying 50% mN with AC seed inoculation led to optimal forage and grain yields, as well as protein content. This indicates that reducing the amount of mN to 50% while using AC seed inoculation can improve the production of dual-purpose triticale without sacrificing yield or protein content.

Abiotic Stress in Crop Species: Improving Tolerance by Applying Plant Metabolites

Francisca Godoy et al.

Summary: As climate change worsens environmental conditions for cultivation, reducing crop yields, researchers are exploring ways to improve crop tolerance to abiotic stress. In addition to genetic approaches, the exogenous application of natural compounds shows promise in enhancing crop yield in stress conditions.

Agronomic and In Vitro Quality Evaluation of Dual-Purpose Cereals Clipped at Variable Ages and Their Utilization in Rabbit Feeding

Heba S. A. Salama et al.

Summary: The study found that cutting crops at different plant ages affects yield and quality, with the optimum balance achieved by cutting at 60 days after sowing. The hay of the four crops can be included in rabbit diets up to 20% substitution without significant impact on growth performance. Ryegrass hay had a notable impact on rabbit productivity and digestibility.

It depends on the rain: Smallholder farmers' perceptions on the seasonality of feed gaps and how it affects livestock in semi-arid and arid regions in Southern Africa

Sala Alanda Lamega et al.

Summary: Livestock farming in the dry regions of southern Africa faces the risk of climate-induced feed gaps, particularly due to frequent drought occurrences. Farmers' perceptions of feed gaps are closely related to seasonal feed availability, with inadequate mineral concentration in winter rangeland biomass leading to livestock weight loss.
