Remote Sensing, Yield, Physical Characteristics, and Fruit Composition Variability in Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyards

Brent Sams et al.

Summary: This study collected data from four vineyards in the Lodi region of California and compared the prediction of fruit composition parameters using different spatial resolution vegetation indices. The results showed that fruit composition was related to vegetation indices, canopy temperature, and indirect measurements collected in the field, but yield and fruit composition had a strong seasonal response and were influenced by environmental conditions.

A spectral parameter for the estimation of soil total nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen of winter wheat growth period

Juanjuan Zhang et al.

Summary: Real-time monitoring of crop nitrogen and soil nutrient status is crucial for rational fertilization. The study found that the correlation between soil nitrate nitrogen and plant nitrogen concentration was superior to the correlation between total nitrogen and plant nitrogen concentrations. Canopy spectroscopy can be used to estimate crop nitrogen nutrition status, with NDVI (FD747, FD699) being effective for estimating soil total nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen content.

Estimation of soil classes and their relationship to grapevine vigor in a Bordeaux vineyard: advancing the practical joint use of electromagnetic induction (EMI) and NDVI datasets for precision viticulture

Susan S. Hubbard et al.

Summary: This study in Bordeaux vineyards explores the relationship between soil classes and grapevine vigor using simple statistical methods and high-resolution datasets. Results indicate a strong correlation between soil classes and grapevine vigor, providing valuable insights for vineyard management and replanting.

Toward high-resolution agronomic soil information and management zones delineated by ground-based electromagnetic induction and aerial drone data

Christian von Hebel et al.

Summary: Detailed knowledge of the intra-field variability of soil properties and crop characteristics is essential for establishing sustainable precision agriculture. This study tested an approach using ground-based agrogeophysical soil and aerial crop data to delineate field-specific management zones, finding that spatially distributed soil information derived from aerial drone-based measurements outperformed NDVI data in terms of agricultural management applications. The combination of EMI and NDVI analysis did not provide additional benefits, highlighting the importance of high-resolution soil information for variable rate applications and agronomic modeling.
