Research indicates that children in rural areas commonly have inadequate intake of vitamin A and zinc, but low prevalence of inadequate iron intake. The diversity of spatial farming systems across rural clusters significantly influences the total dietary intakes of vitamin A, iron, and zinc.

Dietary diversity and practice of pregnant and lactating women in Ethiopia: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: The dietary diversity of pregnant and lactating women in resource-limited countries like Ethiopia is poor, with significant proportions of women having inadequate dietary diversities. The study found that the majority of women included had low to medium dietary diversity scores, and a high percentage had poor dietary practices. This suboptimal dietary diversity and practice could potentially lead to nutrient deficiencies, highlighting the need for nutrition promotion and intervention programs to be redesigned by policymakers and stakeholders.

Dietary diversity among pregnant women and associated factors in Ethiopia: Systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: This study revealed a low proportion of pregnant women with adequate dietary diversity in Ethiopia (41%). Maternal education, nutritional information, dietary diversity knowledge, and household wealth index level were significantly associated with pregnant women's dietary diversity practice. Improving awareness about dietary diversity during pregnancy and empowering women economically would greatly improve dietary diversity practice.
