Spatial, Temporal, and Demographic Patterns in the Prevalence of Hemorrhagic Septicemia in 41 Countries in 2005-2019: A Systematic Analysis with Special Focus on the Potential Development of a New-Generation Vaccine

Reyad Almoheer et al.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of hemorrhagic septicemia (HS) among buffaloes, cattle, sheep, and goats in 41 countries from 2005 to 2019. The results showed that cattle had the highest infection rate, followed by buffaloes. Vaccination programs were identified as the best measure to control the disease. Virus-like particles (VLPs) were found to have potential as a vaccine platform.

Progress towards the Elusive Mastitis Vaccines

Pascal Rainard et al.

Summary: Mastitis is a major problem in dairy farming, and the current vaccines are not effective. To address this issue, research should focus on the immunobiology of the mammary gland and the pathogens adapted to it. Vaccines need to elicit immune mechanisms different from those induced by infection, in order to be more effective.

Global and countrywide prevalence of subclinical and clinical mastitis in dairy cattle and buffaloes by systematic review and meta-analysis

Paramanandham Krishnamoorthy et al.

Summary: This study calculated the prevalence of subclinical mastitis (SCM) and clinical mastitis (CM) in various countries, finding a higher prevalence of SCM compared to CM worldwide, with both having high rates in India. The research suggests the importance of addressing SCM and CM through improved dairy management practices to benefit dairy farmers globally.
