Unrest index for estimating thermal comfort of poultry birds (Gallus gallus domesticus) using computer vision techniques

Summary: This study developed an Unrest Index based on poultry birds' behavior to assess their thermal comfort under different air temperature conditions. The index was efficient in detecting poultry birds' agitation in various thermal conditions, showing that birds moved significantly less in conditions above thermoneutrality. The distribution of the Unrest Index data was asymmetric across different thermal conditions, but there was a tendency to reverse this asymmetry in conditions of thermal comfort and heat stress.
