Early failure detection of paper manufacturing machinery using nearest neighbor-based feature extraction

Summary: In a paper manufacturing system, timely detection of machine failures and necessary maintenance actions are crucial, but predicting system conditions is challenging. This study proposes feature extraction techniques based on nearest neighbors combined with machine learning algorithms to detect paper manufacturing machinery failures earlier than their occurrence, showing better performance than other state-of-the-art machine learning techniques in experiments.
