Long-Range UHF RFID Tag for Automotive License Plate

Youchung Chung et al.

Summary: This paper explores the placement of UHF RFID tags on automotive license plates based on antenna radiation patterns. A small loop antenna type UHF RFID tag for license plates was designed and simulated, with a focus on a larger back-lobe radiation pattern. The tag achieved a reflection coefficient of -21 dB and a gain of 6.29 dBi, with a reading range of 10.3 meters.

SAR reduction and gain enhancement of compact wideband stub loaded monopole antenna backed with electromagnetic band gap array

Saurabh Singh et al.

Summary: This article discusses the design of a compact wideband stub loaded monopole antenna with a 3 x 3 array of hexagonal shaped EBG cells, enhancing gain and reducing SAR for wireless body area network applications. The antenna achieved a simulated 10 dB RL bandwidth of 16.7% and a realized gain of 7 dBi with reduced back-lobe radiation. The EBG array also increased isolation from human body, decreasing SAR to 0.44 W/kg at 2.45 GHz.

Shorted Patch Antenna With Multi Slots for a UHF RFID Tag Attached to a Metallic Object

Minh-Tan Nguyen et al.

Summary: This study developed a miniature tag antenna attached to a backing metal for ultrahigh-frequency RFID applications. The antenna's impedance can be easily controlled at the desired fixed frequency by using different mechanisms, and it provides high power transmission coefficient and realized gain. The antenna prototype measurements agreed with the simulated data, showing good performance.
