Simvastatin mitigates streptozotocin-induced type 1 diabetes in mice through downregulation of ADAM10 and ADAM17

Mohamed Sadek Abdel-Bakky et al.

Summary: The study investigated the roles of ADAM10 and ADAM17 in T1DM, and the protective effects of SIM in STZ-induced T1DM. The results showed that SIM could reduce pancreatic inflammation and cell apoptosis, and decrease the expression of key proteins, alleviating the pathological damage of T1DM.

Circulating CXCL16 in type 2 diabetes mellitus Egyptian patients

Mohamed S. Tawfik et al.

Summary: The serum levels of CXCL16 were significantly higher and serum vitamin D3 levels were significantly lower in T2DM patients compared to controls, with a negative correlation between CXCL16 and vitamin D3 levels. Additionally, a negative correlation was found between vitamin D3 levels and HbA1c % in patients. These results suggest that serum CXCL16, vitamin D3, and HbA1c may be important parameters for monitoring T2DM and predicting complications.

Resveratrol inhibits macrophage infiltration of pancreatic islets in streptozotocin-induced type 1 diabetic mice via attenuation of the CXCL16/NF-κB p65 signaling pathway

Mostafa A. Darwish et al.

Summary: This study found that CXCL16/NF-kappa B p65 signaling pathway is associated with macrophage infiltration to pancreatic islet in T1DM, and that RES successfully improved T1DM by inhibiting this pathway. The results showed significant elevation of CXCL16, NF-kappa B p65 and CD45 in islets of diabetic mice, which was later restored by RES treatment.
