Topical Nano-Vesicular Spanlastics of Celecoxib: Enhanced Anti-Inflammatory Effect and Down-Regulation of TNF-α, NF-κB and COX-2 in Complete Freund's Adjuvant-Induced Arthritis Model in Rats

Eman Alaaeldin et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop a site-specific delivery system for Celecoxib using spanlastic nanovesicles or niosomes, to improve therapeutic outcomes while avoiding systemic administration of large doses. The developed spanlastic nano-vesicle formulation showed higher transdermal flux and permeability coefficient compared to other investigated formulations, effectively reducing inflammation markers in a rat model of arthritis.

Kinetics and Mechanism of Synthesis of Carboxyl-Containing N-Vinyl-2-Pyrrolidone Telehelics for Pharmacological Use

Summary: Sulfanylethanoic and 3-sulfanylpropanoic acids were found to effectively regulate molecular weight and accelerate the radical polymerization of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone. Thiolate anions of mercapto acids were discovered to form a high-temperature redox initiating system with initiators during polymerization. Synthesized carboxyl-containing techelics of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone can slow down the release of anticancer drugs from aqueous solutions, showing potential application in pharmacology.

Amphiphilic Poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) Nanoparticles Conjugated with DR5-Specific Antitumor Cytokine DR5-B for Targeted Delivery to Cancer Cells

Anne Yagolovich et al.

Summary: Nanoparticles based on biocompatible amphiphilic poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (Amph-PVP) derivatives show potential for drug delivery, particularly for cancer treatment. By covalently conjugating antitumor DR5-specific TRAIL variant DR5-B with Amph-PVP nanoparticles, enhanced cytotoxic effects were observed in human cell lines, including resistant tumor spheroids. Further development of this versatile system for targeted drug delivery into tumor cells is recommended due to the nanoparticles' loading ability and conjugation feasibility.

Amphiphilic Poly(N-Vinylpyrrolidone) Nanoparticles Loaded with DNA Plasmids Encoding Gn and Gc Glycoproteins of the Rift Valley Fever Virus: Preparation and In Vivo Evaluation

Andrey Kuskov et al.

Summary: The aim of the study was to develop amphiphilic PVP nanoparticles loaded with DNA plasmids encoding Gn and Gc glycoproteins of the Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) and study the enhancement of humoral response in vivo. The results demonstrated that the NPs loaded with DNA plasmids showed an enhanced humoral response in mice compared to immunization with native DNA plasmids, indicating the potential for fabrication of various DNA particulate vaccines.

Live In-Vivo Neuroimaging Reveals the Transport of Lipophilic Cargo Through the Blood-Retina Barrier with Modified Amphiphilic Poly-N-Vinylpyrrolidone Nanoparticles

Mohamed Tawfik et al.

Summary: The study designed amphiphilic poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone nanoparticles as a carrier system to investigate their ability to pass the blood-retina barrier and deliver fluorescent markers in the retina tissue. The results showed effective passage of the nanoparticles through the barrier and internalization in the blood cells, suggesting their potential as a new nano-carrier platform for targeting posterior eye and potentially brain diseases.
