Identification and verification of an immune-related lncRNA signature for predicting the prognosis of patients with bladder cancer

Jirong Wang et al.

Summary: Recent study identified seven immune-related lncRNAs with prognostic value for bladder cancer (BC) patients through TCGA database, and constructed a signature for predicting prognosis. The signature was confirmed to be an independent prognostic factor and showed different immune statuses between low- and high-risk groups. This study suggests that the identified lncRNA signature can serve as a prognostic marker for BC.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Identification and Validation of a Stromal EMT Related LncRNA Signature as a Potential Marker to Predict Bladder Cancer Outcome

YiHeng Du et al.

Summary: The study identified a signature of five stromal EMT gene-related LncRNAs with significant prognostic value for BLCA patients, which was correlated with infiltrated immune cells and stromal components of the tumor microenvironment. It was confirmed that EMT-related genes were mainly expressed by stromal cells and might influence the responsiveness to immune therapy.

Jie Wu et al.

Summary: This study identified ten independent m6A-related LncRNAs in TNBC and established a prognostic score risk model. Results showed that the PS model had good prognostic abilities in predicting overall survival of TNBC patients. These LncRNAs may serve as potential biomarkers for predicting the prognostic risk of TNBC.

Autophagy-Related Long Non-coding RNA Is a Prognostic Indicator for Bladder Cancer

Jiaming Wan et al.

Summary: Fifteen autophagy-related lncRNAs have been found to have potential prognostic value in patients with bladder cancer, and can be used to predict patient survival. In the training group, patients grouped based on these lncRNAs showed that the overall survival time of the high-risk group was shorter than that of the low-risk group.

Identification and Validation of a Novel Immune-Related lncRNA Signature for Bladder Cancer

Shan Hua et al.

Summary: An immune-related long noncoding ribonucleic acids (irlncRNA) signature was constructed to evaluate the prognosis of bladder cancer patients, demonstrating promising prediction value and guiding clinical treatment. Patients in the high-risk group showed shorter survival time, more aggressive clinic-pathological characteristics, lower chemotherapeutics efficacy, and different immune-related cells infiltrating status compared to the low-risk group.
