Comparison Between Wedge Resection and Lobectomy/Segmentectomy for Early-Stage Non-small Cell Lung Cancer: A Bayesian Meta-analysis and Systematic Review

Yucong Shi et al.

Summary: This Bayesian meta-analysis compared the overall survival, disease-free survival, and relapse-free survival between wedge resection and lobectomy/segmentectomy for early-stage NSCLC. Patients who received lobectomy had a lower hazard ratio of overall survival compared to those who received wedge resection, but there was no significant difference in disease-free survival or relapse-free survival among the three surgical approaches.

Summary: This study evaluated the long-term outcomes of induction chemotherapy followed by intensity-modulated radiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients with N3 disease. The results showed satisfactory survival outcomes, with T stage and neck lymph node necrosis serving as predictors of poor prognosis for patients.

Gal Ben Arie et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the incidence of SPTs in patients with head and neck malignancies and investigate the impact of treatment modalities on SPT occurrence. The results indicated that there was no significant association between treatment modality and the development of SPTs, and radiotherapy did not show a clear protective or harmful effect on SPT occurrence.

Lung cancer screening: who pays? who receives?-the Chinese perspective

Yang Zhang et al.

Summary: The National Lung Screening Trial (NLST) showed that LDCT screening can reduce lung cancer mortality by 20.0%. In China, LDCT is affordable and accessible, leading to differences in screening results compared to Western countries. LDCT in China detects a significant proportion of young, female, and non-smoking lung cancer patients with a higher percentage of ADC and early-stage disease. However, concerns about overdiagnosis and overtreatment are also raised.
