Compact acoustic monolayered metadecoder for efficient and flexible orbital angular momentum demultiplexing

Jing-Jing Liu et al.

Summary: A passive monolayered metadecoder is designed for real-time demultiplexing of multiple OAM modes with compactness, high efficiency, and flexibility. The mechanism of simultaneously untwisting and reshaping synthesized vortex beams downsizes the device and modulates the propagation path of output beam effectively. The metadecoder offers enhanced signal-to-noise ratio, high selectivity, and compatibility with existing multiplexing methods.

Mixed focused-acoustic-vortices generated by an artificial structure plate engraved with discrete rectangular holes

Xin-Rui Li et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the generation of mixed focused acoustic vortices with two topological charges using an artificial structure plate engraved with discrete rectangular holes. The performance of the mixed focused acoustic vortices is found to be highly dependent on the degeneracy of the structure plate, and can be modulated by adjusting the number and distribution of the holes. Experimental confirmation of the generation of mixed focused acoustic vortices opens up more opportunities for applications in particle manipulation and acoustic communication.

Ferris wheel patterning of Rydberg atoms using electromagnetically induced transparency with optical vortex fields

Hamid R. Hamedi et al.

Summary: The study investigates the formation of spatially dependent electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) patterns from pairs of Laguerre-Gauss (LG) modes in an ensemble of cold interacting Rydberg atoms. The EIT patterns are generated when two-photon detuning does not compensate for the energy shift induced by van der Waals interaction. Depending on the topological numbers of each LG mode, dark and bright Ferris-wheel-like structures can be patterned in the absorption profile, providing confinement of Rydberg atoms in the transverse direction while remaining transparent to light at specific angular positions. The modulation of the absorption profile by atomic density is also demonstrated.

Generation of diverse acoustic vortices by superimposed multipole emissions

Yurou Jia et al.

Summary: AVs based on artificial metamaterials have been studied extensively for their potential applications in subdiffraction imaging, particle manipulation, and acoustic communication. The traditional strategies for generating AVs rely on complex phase modulations, which may hinder scalability and efficiency. A novel design approach utilizing an annulus anisotropic structure and eccentric monopole sources allows for the simultaneous generation of multiple-order AV modes at different frequencies, providing flexibility in topological charge modes.
