The orchestrated cellular and molecular responses of the kidney to endotoxin define a precise sepsis timeline

Danielle Janosevic et al.

Summary: Sepsis is a dynamic and life-threatening condition that progresses at variable rates. In a murine endotoxemia model, single-cell RNA sequencing revealed temporally organized involvement of different cell populations. Endothelial and stromal cells were the initial responders, while later epithelial cells played a key role in regulating immune-related pathways.

Rationale and design of the Kidney Precision Medicine Project

Ian H. de Boer et al.

Summary: The Kidney Precision Medicine Project aims to characterize kidney diseases at a molecular level, identify disease subgroups, and discover novel therapies. This multicenter study involves obtaining kidney biopsies, creating a kidney tissue atlas, and conducting in-depth analysis to improve understanding of chronic and acute kidney diseases. Participants will be followed for 10 years to track clinical outcomes, and all data will be made available for broad use by researchers, clinicians, and patients.

Molecular characterization of the human kidney interstitium in health and disease

Daria Barwinska et al.

Summary: This study revealed gene expression signatures of the human kidney interstitium using LMD transcriptomics and snRNAseq, identifying novel markers and strong correlations. Enriched interstitial pathways included G-protein coupled receptor binding and collagen biosynthesis, with diabetic kidney interstitium enriched for extracellular matrix organization and small-molecule catabolism.

The unique molecular mechanism of diabetic nephropathy: a bioinformatics analysis of over 250 microarray datasets

Le-Ting Zhou et al.

Summary: This study identified unique molecular mechanisms of diabetic nephropathy (DN) through analysis of genomic data, including differential gene expression in both glomerular and tubulointerstitial tissues. Enrichment analysis revealed the significant roles of these differentially expressed genes in relevant biological processes and pathways. Hub genes identified in the protein-protein interaction networks may play key roles in regulating the development of DN.
